"What is Twitter and what can it be used for?
As I promised in my video blog on the Telecaster, Twitter and The Scientist, so come here a mini guide to Twitter.
Twitter is actually super simple, but nevertheless, it can be a little confusing to come in time. The concept is that people can follow each other, that is to say, if you e.g. follow me on Twitter, so will all my messages show up on your front page. I don't follow you or accept you (by default-protected Tweets feature, however, exists, but is not recommended), then you should not compare it with e.g. to be friends on Facebook.
You can even choose what you want to write about, as long as you keep it under 140 characters. Twitter is a social media, so if you want to achieve something with Twitter, so you should commit yourself, and have a dialogue with those who follow you, not just send a lot of information like a monologue.
Twitter can be a very good tool for networking, knowledge sharing (many links to their blog posts each time they write a new one) and to meeting new people, because a message can quickly be exposed to very many people."
